Comtech Telecommunications Corp.logo A Comtech Telecommunications subsidiary has won a three-year contract worth up to $38.2 million from the U.S. Army for sustainment support to its Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below – Blue Force Tracking program.

The company said Monday Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation will provide engineering and program management services and satellite network operations for the BFT-1 satellite tracking program.

“We are pleased that Comtech and the U.S. Army will continue to work together to sustain this critical worldwide military communications system,” said Fred Kornberg, president and CEO of Comtech Telecommunications.

The sustainment contract has a one-year base performance period ending March 31, 2015, worth $13.6 million.

Comtech was also awarded an intellectual property licensing contract potentially worth $30 million of annual license fees over three years, wherein the Army can gain free, limited, non-exclusive rights to the company’s IP after March 31, 2017.

Initial funded orders of $12.5 million have already been placed for the base year.
