GE Digital Energy has teamed up with asset management software provider Meridium to provide utility customers with an offering to view and manage their assets and distribution network.
The GE business unit will integrate distribution management software Smallworld Electric and Gas Distribution Office with Meridium’s asset performance management system to monitor asset health and functionality, GE said Tuesday.
According to Mike Carlson, general manager for software solutions at GE Digital Energy, the collaboration is expected to leverage data collection for the distribution network.
Using a visual interface, utility customers can view asset information, such as system age and criticality.
The partnership is meant to help reduce outage frequencies and cut the time required to make repairs when outages do occur.
“After identifying critical assets through a risk-based approach, our APM system applies advanced analytics to identify an optimal maintenance strategy for a utility’s distribution system and infrastructure,†said Joe Nichols, Meridium vice president for product strategy.
