Exelis C4i’s SwitchplusIP Alarmon will connect the airports’ voice communications system to the aviation rescue fire fighting service for coordination during critical events, bringing the total airports served to 27, the company said Monday.

“Such application allows for resources at airports to enhance command and control capability which assists skilled personnel at the airports during an incident,” said Peter Harrison, Exelis C4i managing director.

Alarmon enables support from remote operators by allowing access to local communications access, with a command-and-control console that can monitor aircraft and ARFF communications, fire alarms and facilities.

The Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting Working Group awarded Airservices Australia and Exelis C4i for technical achievement in 2010 for the implementation of Alarmon.
