HII Begins Construction Work on Lead Columbia-Class Submarine
Huntington Ingalls Industries has started construction work on the U.S. Navy's lead Columbia-class (SSBN 826) ballistic missile submarine through a cut-of-steel ceremony at the firm's Newport News Shipbuilding facility. HII said Thursday it secured a contract from General Dynamics' Electric Boat subsidiary to perform advance construction efforts for the vessels, which will developed using digital blueprints and replace the service's fleet of Ohio-class submarines.

Deloitte Secures $64M Navy IDIQ for Business, Tech Management Services
Deloitte has won a five-year, $63.7M cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to provide business and technology management support services for the U.S. Navy. The company will provide such services for the service's deputy chief of naval operations for manpower, personnel, training and education and other subordinate commands under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has posted a request for information to seek concepts and technologies that will help ODNI support strategic initiatives within the intelligence community. A FedBizOpps notice posted Tuesday says ODNI is looking for capabilities in various areas including artificial intelligence, behavioral science, forensics, computing, energy, space and sensors in support of strategic programs such as acquisition agility; use of machines to augment intelligence; data management; comprehensive cyber posture; and agile workforce.
