Microsoft has expanded the availability of its cloud computing services and regions in the U.S. from moderate to high impact level through a provisional authority to operate under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.

The FedRAMP High certification indicates that Azure public and government-only offerings comply with stringent requirements for that baseline, Lily Kim, general manager of Azure Global at Microsoft, wrote in a blog entry posted Thursday.

She said the company now offers 90 services with the high-level security standard and continues its efforts to achieve 100 percent FedRAMP compliance for the cloud technology.

"Microsoft is working closely with our stakeholders to simplify our approach to regulatory compliance for federal agencies, so that our government customers can gain access to innovation more rapidly by reducing the time required to take a service from available to certified," Kim added.

The full list of the firm's compliance offerings can be found on the Microsoft Truse Center website.
