Firefly Aerospace has raised $75 million in a round of Series A financing led by DADA Holdings and $100 million through a secondary transaction that includes the sale of holdings owned by its major investor Noosphere Ventures. Astera Institute, Canon Ball and other investors participated in the Series A round, which gives Firefly a valuation of more than $1 billion.

General Atomics' electromagnetic systems business has selected Firefly Aerospace to perform launch services for a GA-EMS satellite carrying an instrument that NASA will use to study how aerosols in the atmosphere affect human health. Joh will bring her experience in corporate strategy and financing to her role and advise Voyager leadership in pursuit of enabling various space exploration missions, the company said Wednesday.

NASA has selected Ball Aerospace to develop a spacecraft that would help the agency study the atmosphere's outermost region that transitions into space as part of the agency's heliophysics science mission of opportunity. The company said Tuesday it will build the Global Lyman-alpha Imager of the Dynamic Exosphere or GLIDE spacecraft that would track the hydrogen-based ultraviolet light found in the region.
