Iowa Communications Network has added CenturyLink as a provider of managed communication services and collaboration applications to the government sector in Iowa.
CenturyLink will offer its unified communications-as-a-service platform to healthcare, public safety and educational organizations that use ICN’s fiber optic broadband network, CenturyLink said Wednesday.
The company’s UCaaS portfolio includes managed data networking and voice over Internet protocol services and instant messaging tools.
Ric Lumbard, ICN executive director, said the company aims to help government clients “avoid the substantial capital outlay and the ongoing, unpredictable operating costs of operating a unified communications system on their own.”
The VoIP service offering is designed to help users make calls from a remote area, access an online employee call management portal and manage voicemails.
The state of Iowa established ICN to deliver voice, data and video communication services through a government-run fiber optic network.
