Rockwell Automation and Cisco have expanded their converged plantwide Ethernet architectures in a move to meet the security requirements of customers.
Cisco said Wednesday the companies added new design guidance and validated architectures to the CPwE security technology to help operations and information technology professionals form multiple defense layers.
“These new architectures and guides build on our collaboration by helping organizations recognize and proactively address today’s security concerns,†said Bryan Tantzen, senior director at Cisco.
The new CPwE architectures use the IEC 62443 open industry standard and contain data sharing recommendations for an industrial demilitarized zone.
“The new guidance considers security factors for the industrial zone of the CPwE architectures, leveraging the combined experience of Rockwell Automation and Cisco,†said Lee Lane, business director at Rockwell Automation.
Rockwell Automation and Cisco have also launched new resources and a white paper that highlights key design principles intended to help manufacturers deploy security services.
