Lockheed Martin has selected Hybrid Enterprises to act as exclusive reseller of an aircraft built to transport cargo loads and personnel to remote areas.
Hybrid Enterprises is scheduled to begin deliveries of Lockheed’s Hybrid Airships by 2018, Lockheed said Tuesday.
“We have completed all required [Federal Aviation Administration] certification planning steps for a new class of aircraft and are ready to begin construction of the first commercial model and the completion of the FAA Type certification process,†said Orlando Carvalho, executive vice president of aeronautics at Lockheed.
Lockheed has tested the systems onboard the Hybrid Airships with the company’s P-791 flight demonstrator and has started construction work on the 20-ton version of the aircraft at its California facility.
