JFK International AirportRockwell Collins has teamed up with a Teltronic subsidiary to improve radio communications at John F. Kennedy International Airport with the installation of terrestrial trunked radio technology.

Rockwell Collins said Friday the installation of the Tetra system, which works to provide secure and swift radio communications, with New Jersey-based PowerTrunk is part of the companies’ effort to upgrade the ARINC GLOBALink infrastructure at JFK airport.

Since 2001, the Rockwell Collins-made ARINC GLOBALink network has been in use at the airport to help facilitate mission-critical communications among airport ground personnel, airline passenger staff and terminal security groups.

The companies also collaborated in 2014 on a network upgrade at Los Angeles International Airport.
