Lockheed Martin has landed two contracts to produce and integrate Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods onto F-16 fighter planes operated by Romania’s and Thailand’s air forces.
The company said Monday it will also perform initial sustainment work on F-16 ATPs for the two international military agencies.
The Sniper works to identify and track small tactical targets at extended ranges as well as operate with laser- and GPS-guided weapon systems, according to Lockheed.
Lockheed designed the technology to aid precision targeting, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations on F-15, F-16, F-18, A-10, B-1 and B-52 aircraft platforms.
