Stewart Ewing, executive vice president and chief financial officer at CenturyLink, said the company continues to consider potential mergers and acquisitions that would grow its business services portfolio, FierceTelecom reported Tuesday.
“We’re trying to build out the portfolio for the cloud platform and for the IT services platform that we hope to grow so I think you’ll see us look at opportunities there to add resources or products that are make or buy type of decisions,” he said at a Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.
Sean Buckley writes that transactions by Level 3 Communications and Frontier Communications demonstrate the current consolidation activity in the wireline industry.
AT&T‘s planned sale of some of its data centers could be a potential $2 billion acquisition opportunity for CenturyLink, the report said.
Buckley reports that the company has been expanding its data center services in domestic and international locations in the past year, with four new data centers in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Toronto and Hong Kong.
