A division of L-3 Communications has tapped FLYHT Aerospace Solutions to provide Airbus with flight tracking and performance monitoring tools for installation and retrofitting on the A320 aircraft.
A VCN Publishing report noted Friday that FLYHT’s Automated Flight Information Reporting System is certified for integration with Airbus’ A320 aircraft fleet.
Bill Tempany, chief executive officer of FLYHT, said in a recent conference call that the company is working with L-3 Aviation Recorders to deliver 35 AFIRS units to Airbus within this month.
AFIRS works to provide reports on fuel load and real-time alerts on flight path, altitude or equipment and engine issues, as well as to support various communication platforms and satellite tracking.
The report said that incidents such as the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines MH370 have driven demand for aircraft data monitoring technologies.
