General Dynamics‘ NASSCO subsidiary has kicked off construction work on crude oil and refined products tankers for SEA-Vista LLC.
NASSCO will build the liquefied natural gas-conversion ready product tankers at its shipyard in San Diego in compliance with the Jones Act transportation requirements, General Dynamics said Tuesday.
“We are proud and honored to partner with SEA-Vista and build three state-of-the-art Jones Act-qualified tankers,” said Kevin Graney, a vice president and general manager at NASSCO.
The 610-foot-long vessels feature environmental protection systems such as a ballast water treatment system and reduced emissions.
DSEC, a subsidiary of South Korea-based Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, designed the tankers.
