UnisysRoberto Tavano of Unisys says that increasing incidents of organized cyber crime and emergence of crime-as-a-service means companies should work further on risk management, collaboration and cyber awareness and education to protect their systems.

Tavano – vice president of global security sales for technology, consulting and integration services at Unisys – wrote in a blog post published Thursday that online criminals are now turning to the digital underground to sell services for hacking, money laundering and other crimes.

“The dispersed nature of cybercriminals, their committed will to succeed and their theoretical infinite availability of resources pose a serious threat to governments and businesses alike,” he says.

He says organizations should focus on people and processes in their risk profiles, center security on the most important assets, instill security-aware behavior in employees and work with business partners to establish security measures.

Tavano also recommends companies to proactively address their risk factors alongside compliance to industry requirements and regulations.
