Xerox has released an update of its Maven outbreak management software that works to host contact-tracing data on communicable diseases such as Ebola and other public health information in a cloud platform.
The company said Thursday that Maven leverages data and analytics to track the path of infection or exposure to disease and facilitates data sharing and integration between public health agencies.
“Right now, the Ebola outbreak is a major global problem that requires our best thinking and resources,” said Dave Amoriell, Xerox chief operating officer for the public sector business.
“Health organizations of all kinds need technology to manage the identification and diagnosis of those who may have come into contact with an infected person.”
Maven monitors disease events via electronic reporting or through the web portal.
Xerox said 12 jurisdictions in the U.S. and two in Australia have already deployed the software.
The company added that the Xerox Foundation will also donate $100,000 to Save the Children to support its humanitarian work in West Africa.
