Bob Held: TCS Pushes IP Monetization With 11 US Patents in Q3 2014

TeleCommunication Systems has received 11 domestic patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the third quarter of 2014 for the company’s location-based services and communications and messaging technology.

Bob Held, TCS vice president of intellectual asset management, said Tuesday the patents are part of a monetization campaign on the company’s intellectual property.

USPTO issued patents for TCS technology in prepaid short message services revenue capture, intelligent delivery agent for short message distribution center and the method and apparatus for storing real-time text messages.

The other U.S. patents are for:

• Encapsulation of secure encrypted data in a secure communication system for transport
• SS7 ANSI-41 to SIP-based call signaling conversion gateway for wireless VoIP E911
• Ingress/egress call module
• VoIP 911 location services
• Method and system for saving and retrieving spatial related information
• Probabilistic reverse geocoding
• A-GPS location accuracy and yield with location measurement units and network timing measurements
• Unique global identifier header for minimizing prank emergency 911 calls

TCS said it also received three foreign patents during the quarter.
