Deltek‘s Alex Rossino has outlined his analysis of the U.S. Army‘s spending on the Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 2 – Services vehicle in an effort to help vendors prepare for the upcoming ITES-3S iteration in fiscal year 2015.
“ITES-3S is expected to be even more heavily utilized than its predecessor due to the Army’s desire to push more of its IT acquisition dollars through a smaller number of contract vehicles,” Rossino, a principal research analyst at Deltek, wrote in a piece for GovWin.
In his analysis, Rossino breaks down data on the $3 billion-plus in Army procurements via ITES-2S through May by customer, type of product or service and competitor.
According to Rossino, the program executive office for enterprise information systems has been the top Army customer on ITES-2S at $1.1 billion, followed by the Army Information Technology Agency at $638 million and the communications-electronics command at $263 million.
Meanwhile, the Deltek principal research analyst reports that Army customers spent the most on miscellaneous automatic data processing and telecommunications services at $2.1 billion, followed by maintenance and repair of ADP equipment at $195 million and computers at $179 million.
Rossino lists the main contractors on ITES-2S as Northrop Grumman at $875 million in task orders, Lockheed Martin at $566 million and IBM at $281 million.
NDI, General Dynamics, Booz Allen Hamilton, Pragmatics, Computer Sciences Corp., Science Applications International Corp. and HP Enterprise Services round up the top 10 vendors, Rossino reports.
The analyst also highlights commercial-off-the-shelf equipment and software as preferred implementation tools for Army customers.
