Battelle has been awarded a nearly $6 million contract to provide technical support services for the Environmental Protection Agency‘s project to restore ocean and coastal environments in the U.S.
Battelle scientists and engineers will work with the EPA’s oceans and coastal protection division for the next five years to conduct research and strategic planning in several watersheds across the nation, the company said Tuesday.
“We have a long history, dating back to the early 1980s, of working with the EPA and other clients on a range of ocean and coastal topics,” said Mark Curran, manager of Battelle’s environmental services business.
Work will focus on the National Estuary Program, ocean disposal, smart growth, marine debris, coral reefs and climate change impact on coastal resources.
“We’ve got the experience and staff to work on many different environmental issues,†added Curran.
