Teradata has has awarded 13 faculty and student scholarships and chosen 10 finalists in a poster contest as part of Teradata University Network’s Data-Driven Careers program centered on promoting the fields of data warehousing and analytics.
The company said Wednesday the scholars and finalists will have free registration for the five-day Teradata 2014 PARTNERS Conference & Expo in October, when the company will seek to provide networking and job opportunities for attendees.
Jim Stewart, Teradata chief learning officer, said the company hopes to help build a “talent pipeline” as the demand increases for analytics professionals.
Following the theme “Solving Business Issues with Big Data and Analytics,” the contest finalists will present the posters for their applied analytics projects during the event and contend for awards as the most promising research, most practical and people’s choice.
Meanwhile, Teradata said the scholarship winners were selected based on their interest in analytics and data warehousing and use of Teradata resources.
“[The]Â scholarships are a way for students to gain knowledge and build important professional networks for career and internship opportunities,” said Susan Baxley, director of the Teradata University Network.
“[They] also financially support faculty who attend to learn about the latest advancements in data analytics technology and how businesses are driving rapid and widespread adoption.”
