Northrop Grumman‘s Astro Aerospace business unit has completed delivery of 13 stored-energy monopole antennas to MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates — the prime contractor on the Canadian Space Agency’s RADARSAT Constellation Mission.
Astro Aerospace said Wednesday the antennas are configurable, deployable and compact and will be installed onto the Automatic Identification System payload.
They are designed to support Earth observation missions with their capability to provide maritime information such as ship speed, course and location, the company added.
Dan Johansen, RCM program manager at Northrop Grumman’s Astro Aerospace, said the company has provided at least 1,000 antenna units for other satellite missions.
