MBDA has started to produce Brimstone 2 missile for the British air force to use on its fleet of Tornado GR4 aircraft.
The Brimstone 2 missile is built to help the Tornado in guidance against targets and work through both safety methods and potential logistical issues, MBDA said
Brimstone 2 enters the series production phase after a qualification of the Brimstone 2 IM rocket motor and IM warhead, both of which are in series production.
MBDA started the first batch of rocket motors under contract with Roxel on June 10 and commenced work on the warheads on June 30 under TDW.
The missile maker signed a contract with BAE Systems on June 18 and will support the future evaluation of Typhoon integration of Brimstone 2’s progress and use.
