Harris CapRock has achieved accreditation from a nonprofit satellite communications industry association for the company’s training and certification programs on VSAT terminal system work, RR Media Group reported Tuesday.
David Hartshorn, secretary general of the non-profit satellite communications industry association, said the designation recognizes Harris CapRock’s work to install fixed and maritime VSAT systems worldwide.
“Satellite communications services are being delivered at unprecedented levels in dynamic and, at times, hostile operating environments,†he added.
To gain the GVF’s approval, companies need to comply requirements such as annual audits and maintenance of a team of VSAT trainers and examiners to issue hands-on skills tests.
“The GVF VSAT training program is integral to the Harris CapRock internal training plan,†said Andy Lucas, Harris CapRock chief technology officer, according to the report.
Harris CapRock has a 1,200-strong workforce that provides satellite communications services in 23 nations worldwide, with web-based courses provided via the SatProf platform for satellite installers.
