Gary Camper, who previously served as BWX Technologies Nuclear Operations Group’s chief operating officer, has been named president of the BWXT subsidiary.
In his new role, Camper will use his prior manufacturing experience with BWXT to support NOG’s goal of producing nuclear reactor components and fuel for U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers, the Lynchburg, Virginia-based company announced Tuesday.
Kevin McCoy, president of BWXT government operations, said, “With more than 40 years of experience, Gary’s unparalleled knowledge of our business and customers positions him well to lead us into the future.”
During his time at BWXT, Camper has spearheaded project management, quality control, engineering and operations departments. He also served as the company’s vice president of contracts and procurement.
As the president of BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Camper will oversee more than 5,000 employees at five sites across four states.
“His promotion is a testament to his exceptional leadership and deep-rooted expertise in the industry,” McCoy added.
Camper also serves as the executive committee co-chair for the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing program and is a board member of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance.
