The State Department has approved a potential $85 million foreign military sale of precision guidance kits to Denmark.

The Danish government requested to purchase up to 5,832 M1156 Precision Guidance Kits manufactured by Northrop Grumman and related elements of logistics and program support, including ancillary items, compatibility testing, firing tables, technical assistance, technical data and new equipment training, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.

The DSCA said the proposed sale will provide Denmark with increased first-strike accuracy in its brigades to meet current and future threats.

Improving the security of a NATO ally supports the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States, the agency added.

As the equipment manufacturer, Northrop will be the principal contractor of the potential FMS.
