Microsoft has received certification under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program to offer its cloud-based generative artificial intelligence service offering to federal agencies.
The Azure OpenAI Service secured the FedRAMP authorization after meeting the security requirements for handling government data and related workloads through the program’s rigorous assessment process, Sachin Sinha, director of technology strategy at Microsoft, wrote in a LinkedIn post.
“These include encryption at rest and in transit, identity and access management, logging and auditing, vulnerability scanning, incident response, and more,” Sinha noted.
The service is designed to enable developers to use large-language AI models for code and content generation, summarization and other use cases while detecting and mitigating harmful use.
