Firefly Aerospace has raised $30.2 million as part of the initial tranche of a Series C funding round valued at $300 million, Austin Inno reported Friday.
The fundraising comes as the Cedar Park, Texas-based rocket startup expands its set of launch vehicles and prepares for upcoming launches, including a satellite deployment mission with NASA and a demonstration of its capability to field an unnamed asset within a day’s notice as part of “responsive launch” mission with the U.S. Space Force.
Firefly is also preparing for the planned 2024 launch of its lunar lander, Blue Ghost, under a potential $93 million commercial lunar payload services contract with NASA.
The company is expanding its production and testing facility near Austin, Texas, as it works with Northrop Grumman on the Antares 330 rocket, which is designed to launch larger payloads into orbit.
The new funding round was first announced in October.
