Matt Ofilos, formerly executive vice president of Parsons, has been elevated to the chief financial officer post at the information technology company, effective July 25.
Parsons has also appointed George Ball — who Ofilos is succeeding as CFO — and defense industry veteran Ellen Lord to its board of directors, the Centreville, Virginia-headquartered company said Monday.
Carey Smith, chair, president and CEO of Parsons, said that Ofilos earned the promotion and a distinguished reputation due to his public sector career history, financial intelligence and trustworthiness.
“His focus on growth and execution will continue to underpin the success of our finance function and the entire company,” four-time Wash100 Award winner Smith added.
Ofilos gained his expertise in business management, financial and strategic planning and global operations through work at a variety of businesses that partner directly with defense industry clientele. He served at Raytheon for nearly two decades, holding roles like senior financial analyst and business controller of product support before ultimately rising to chief financial officer of the company’s space and command & control operations for the intelligence, information and services division.
Prior to coming to Parsons in 2021, Ofilos was director and CFO of the worldwide public sector and strategic industries business at Amazon Web Services. Prior to the CFO promotion, Ofilos’ time as EVP of finance at Parsons entailed oversight of the company’s project controls, financial planning, accounting, treasury and financial systems.
“I look forward to continuing to partner with our business leaders to drive growth and operational excellence while leading a best-in-class finance organization,” Ofilos commented.
In addition, the newly promoted executive praised the additions to Parsons’ board, Ball and Lord.
A Parsons team member since 1995, Ball has been CFO for the last 14 years, making a major contribution to the company’s move to go public in 2019 and the organization’s shift to technology services. Ofilos noted Ball’s strong influence in the company’s consistent acquisitions of intelligence and national security business.
Lord, who, like Smith, is a four-time Wash100 Award recipient, netted extensive experience in acquisition, developmental testing, contract administration, logistics and materiel readiness and more as former undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment at the Department of Defense.
Before entering the government side of the equation, Lord accrued over three decades of private sector experience, holding the position of CEO of Textron subsidiary Textron Systems Corporation.
Lord is expected to draw on her collaborations with international defense, homeland security, aerospace and infrastructure protection customers at TSC in her new board position at Parsons.
