General Dynamics‘ Electric Boat subsidiary has received a $66.64 million modification to a sole-source contract that covers lead yard services, development studies and design efforts in support of the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-class attack submarines.
The undefinitized contract action from the Naval Sea Systems Command will require Electric Boat to perform submarine work in North Carolina, Florida, and Maryland through November 2024, the Department of Defense said Friday.
NAVSEA will obligate $5.56 million in fiscal 2022 Navy research, development, test and evaluation on the award, all of which will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
Electric Boat is currently under contract to develop the first 28 Virginia-class submarines with Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ Newport News Shipbuilding division as part of various multibillion-dollar contracts.
