General Atomics Seeks to Expand Optical Comms Terminal Production With New San Diego Facility - top government contractors - best government contracting event

General Atomics has added to its space systems infrastructure in San Diego a 7,500-square-foot cleanroom facility that can support the production of up to 300 optical communication terminals per year.

Scott Forney, president of General Atomics’ electromagnetic systems business, said in a statement published Monday GA-EMS is committed to fielding OCTs in support of future national security space architectures and the expansion of its infrastructure could help the company meet requirements and facilitate the annual delivery of hundreds of OCTs on budget and on schedule.

“The GA-EMS OCT is easily integrated onto a variety of satellites providing customers with tremendous flexibility in platform configurations to drive costs down and meet mission objectives,” said Nick Bucci, vice president of missile defense and space systems at GA-EMS.

The company has made investments to expand its space systems infrastructure with the addition of new facilities in San Diego, Colorado, Alabama, Mississippi and Virginia that can support the production of ESPA-Grande-class satellites, CubeSats and other spacecraft for satellite constellation programs.
