Comcast Government Services has secured two contracts, valued at $84.2 million and $71.6 million, to help the Defense Information Systems Agency modernize telecommunications circuits.
The company will deliver Ethernet-based services for regions four and five of DISA’s Commercial Ethernet Gateway, with a goal to boost network performance, Comcast Business said July 13.
The contracts are worth $155.8 million in total, provide for up to 10 years of work and add to Comcast’s previous awards for CEG’s first and third regions. Comcast now provides services for four out of seven CEG regions under contracts with a combined value over $267 million.
DISA will use the company’s Ethernet-based services to replace 17,000 legacy point-to-point public switched telephone circuits.
“DISA’s Commercial Ethernet Gateway initiative is an important step in improving the Department of Defense’s communication with mission partners, while furthering its vision to be the trusted provider to connect and protect the warfighter in cyberspace,” said Ken Folderauer, vice president of government sales at Comcast Business.
