Microsoft has launched an Asian executive council to facilitate exchanges of best practices on technology, intelligence and resource sharing between leaders from government agencies and private sector companies.
The Asia Pacific Public Sector Cybersecurity Executive Council consists of 15 executives from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei and South Korea, and has support from Microsoft cybersecurity professionals, the company said Monday.
Members will hold quarterly, virtual meetings to discuss new cybersecurity technologies and cyber threats.
Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, said at the APAC Public Sector Summit on May 6 that Indonesia and Malaysia house new data center regions supported by the company. The data center regions align with national empowerment plans that Microsoft has committed to.
He noted in a keynote speech that Microsoft has observed a second wave of digital transformation as governments speed up their implementation of new resilient technologies.
“This coalition certainly establish stronger partnerships with industry leaders and practitioners that allow us to fortify our security postures and combat cybercrime,” Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia, commented about the council.
