Envistacom has partnered with an operator of a satellite constellation in the low Earth orbit in an effort to enable waveform virtualization and in support of its development of an open-architecture ecosystem meant to virtually deliver encryption, data analytics and other continuous processing applications.
The user terminal waveform from Envistacom's partner will be virtualized and made available through its Transport Virtualization Ecosystem to help customers enhance resilient satellite connectivity and address communications challenges, the company said Friday.
Under the agreement, the operator will inform Envistacom of the operational construct of its network and select technical details of its commercial user terminals to help virtualize the waveform.
“Customers who require highly flexible and resilient networks are quickly adopting the notion of virtualization to lighten the logistical and operational burden for the user," said Michael Geist, senior vice president of strategy and technology at Envistacom.
The planned ecosystem of Envistacom will also offer advanced communications waveforms and interference mitigation capabilities.
The company is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and caters to the aerospace, defense and intelligence markets by providing communications, cyber and intelligence offerings.
