Michael Crouse, a user protection specialist at Forcepoint, has said agencies should incorporate user and data protection approaches into their overall security strategy.
In a GCN guest piece published Monday, he offers three questions agency leaders can ask to pinpoint privileged access management challenges and suggests potential measures to address such issues.
Crose noted that a converged technology platform with identity and access management, data leak prevention and user activity monitoring features could organizations visibility for granting privileged user accounts.
“For such monitoring to be successful, agencies need enterprise-level visibility into not just which users have access, but what data those users normally access and what risk that access presents to the organization."
He proposed conducting regular training programs, manual checks and behavioral analytics to avoid unnecessary security risks.
