Motorola Solutions has introduced a cloud-based service to facilitate reporting by 911 callers who want to provide visual incident reports to public safety answering points.
Command Central Citizen Input offers a means for people to share videos, photos or audio recordings through a permission-based model to help accelerate emergency response and increase first responders’ situational awareness, the company said Thursday.
“It allows the 911 call taker to send a link to the citizen calling or texting 911, which allows the citizen to send the media to the PSAP. With this, the 911 call taker is in control of what is sent,” said Anita Pitt, a program manager at Texas’ Brazos Valley Council of Governments.
The service also gives call takers the option of whether to view potentially disturbing content or have the material stored for post-call analysis.
Citizen Input works to integrate with CallWorks and Vest 9-1-1 call handling platforms being used in many PSAPs nationwide, according to Motorola Solutions.
