The Department of Energy has selected Schneider Electric to contribute equipment for a program that seeks to assess the cybersecurity of industrial control systems.
DOE said Wednesday its Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response will use hardware and software from the company under the Cyber Testing for Resilient Industrial Control System program, with full-scale assessments slated to commence in the second quarter of the government's 2021 fiscal year.
The office aims to examine vulnerabilities and share results with manufacturing firms to help industry mitigate security issues that affect deployed equipment.
Analytic tools from DOE's national laboratories will be used to test equipment that producers, utilities and vendors will voluntary provide to the CyTRICS initiative, the department noted.
