Executive Mosaic is pleased to introduce Christopher Kubasik, president and chief operating officer of L3Harris Technologies, as an inductee into the 2020 Wash100 Award for his leadership during the merger of L3 Technologies and the Harris Corporation in 2019 as well as his efforts to advance military capabilities for the U.S.Â
This marks the third Wash100 Award win for Kubasik. Previously, he won his 2019 Wash100 Award for securing multiple contracts to expand the company’s position in the federal market.
Most notably, Kubasik played a pivotal role in the all-stock merger between L3 Technologies and the Harris Corporation that merged in July 2019 to form L3Harris. The company is the sixth largest defense company in the U.S. It is worth almost $17B in revenue with over 50K employees. Kubasik was named vice chairman of the company’s board of directors as well.

Prior to the merger, Kubasik drove to advance L3 Technologies and the U.S. military’s capabilities. For instance, the company worked with AVX Aircraft Company designed a compound coaxial helicopter as a joint offering for the first increment of the U.S. Army’s Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft-Competitive Prototype program, ExecutiveBiz reported in April 2019.Â
Both companies are working for the system to employ a single-engine framework, small form factor, high-speed forward flight and avionics based on modern open systems architecture.Â
“We are collaborating to deliver a prototype that provides powerful leap-ahead capability for our warfighters at an affordable life-cycle cost,†said Kubasik.Â
Under Kubasik’s leadership. L3 Technologies also secured a potential $500M contract in June with the U.S. Air Force to update the avionics system of C-130H airlifters operated by Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Command.Â
The company is also updating the avionics systems of 176 C-130H airlifters is one of the signs of the company’s cultural shift through its adoption of “innovation sprints.â€Â
In the same month, the company announced $120M in contracts from its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions in the first quarter of 2019. Regarding the division’s success, Kubasik said the company’s technology offerings are designed to help address defense and security mission requirements.Â
Kubasik added the ISR systems business helps drive innovation and collaboration across the enterprise. The company has deployed over 4.6K Wescam MX platforms to support land, air and maritime operations in more than 85 countries.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Christopher Kubasik and L3Harris Technologies on his 2020 Wash100 Award. Kubasik has demonstrated a high standard of excellence in the government contracting sector, which has been rewarded with his third Wash100 Award.Â
