Parsons has announced the semi-finalists of a competition that seeks to optimize public safety functions through the use of Amazon Web Services’ infrastructure.
The Smart Cities Challenge aims to implement data analytics and traffic management infrastructure into seaports, airports and state transportation systems by providing a secure information technology environment, AWS said Tuesday.
The semi-finalists were selected by an independent third-party group from a pool of applicants across the globe. Parsons will provide a year’s worth of services and support efforts to the winning city in an effort to reinforce mobility.
Parsons will announce the winning city in 2020.

- Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, United Arab Emirates
- Frontier MPO, Ark.
- Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain
- Mississauga, Canada
- Pasadena, Calif.
- RTC Southern Nevada, Nev.
- Walnut Creek, Calif.
- Westminster, Colo.
