Northrop Grumman has secured a potential five-year, $45M contract to manufacture spare parts for the U.S. Army's special electronic mission aircraft used to collect signals intelligence and targeting location data.
The company will produce the spares as part of the Guardrail Common Sensor Modernization program, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The Defense Logistics Agency awarded the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract on a sole-source basis and will obligate funds from the service branch's fiscal 2020 through fiscal 2025 working capital funds.
Work is initially scheduled to conclude by Nov. 21, 2024, and could extend for five more years if the option is exericed.
GRCS is a legacy aircraft system designed to transmit targeting data to tactical commanders in real time. Modernization efforts include updating the platform's communications and electronics intelligence subsystems.
