Raytheon has tapped Mercury Systems to deliver signal processing and radio frequency systems that will support the development of the U.S. Army’s Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor.
The Army plans to use LTAMDS to reinforce battlefield coverage and shield warfighters from missile and airborne attacks, Mercury said Thursday.
In addition, the radar will function under the service branch’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense network and replace the Army’s Patriot radar systems.
Raytheon secured a $384M contract to develop and deliver six LTAMDS units to the Army.
Dibier Thibaud, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Mercury, said that with LTAMDS, customers “can count on Mercury to continue supplying affordable secure and safety-critical processing subsystem†offerings.
