Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon Web Services, said during the AWS Public Sector Summit that government agencies and enterprises are embracing cloud computing technology because of its potential to increase agility and speed of operations, FedScoop reported Wednesday.
He pointed to the CIA’s award of a $600M contract to AWS in 2013 as having an impact on how organizations perceive the technology, according to the report.
Jassy noted the project to build a private cloud infrastructure for the intelligence community has helped IC agencies complete missions faster.
“I think in our world if our government doesn’t have access to the most modern, sophisticated technology to accomplish their mission, given the role we play in the world, we’re in trouble,” he added.
