Mathew Newfield, chief information security officer of Unisys, has said President Trump's executive order on supply chain security is a wake-up call for government and information technology industry leaders, SearchCIO reported Friday.
He urged executives in both the public and private sectors to maintain an open communication to secure the flow of IT goods and services.
"It's important for contractors to understand the risks that supply chain vulnerabilities pose to government missions," Newfield told the publication.
"We must view our role as a partner to government in achieving those goals, which includes contractor input on existing best practices that should be adopted."
Through the EO issued Wednesday, Trump prohibits transactions involving information and communications technology and services that threaten national security, critical infrastructure and digital economy.
