Cubic has received a $68.2M extension contract to continue helping the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority maintain a regional fare payment network.
The company said Tuesday its ‘s transportation systems business will provide field maintenance and technical support for the TAPÂ contactless system that helps commuters pay to 26 transit providers via a single, common smart card.
According to Cubic, it also holds two other contracts to update TAP-linked mobile application and infrastructure.
Metro intends to link an app to TAPforce, which allows TAP users to store funds in cloud accounts for a variety of transportation services that include ride sharing, bus rides and transit rail.
