Lockheed Martin will provide common engine controllers for newly constructed and modernized Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer ships for the U.S. Navy under a potential five-year, $75.1M contract.
The Navy also asked the company to provide engineering support to DDG 51 new construction and midlife modernization efforts, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The service branch received one proposal for the contract, which has a $20.2M initial value, and will obligate $16.2M at the time of award.
Ninety percent of contract work will occur in Orlando, Fla., and the remaining 10 percent will take place in Baltimore, Md.
Engine controllers are intended to help ship crews digitally manage natural gas turbines on vessels.
