Honeywell has been chosen to update building systems at a U.S. Army installation as part of a $19M project funded through an energy savings performance contract.
The company said Monday it will install a utility monitoring and control system, lighting controls and occupancy sensors at Fort Benning, as well as modify the post's building envelope to help the service branch meet energy efficiency and resiliency goals.
Under the ESPC, Honeywell will also replace the Niagara AX UMCS system at the military base with Tridium's Niagara N4 platform for Army personnel to collect data in real time.
The service branch and the company expect the project to reduce Fort Benning's annual energy consumption by 6 percent.
According to Honeywell, the first phase of the project will cover system upgrades in 228 buildings and is scheduled to conclude by September of next year.
