General Atomics has received a four-year, $19.6M delivery order to produce, assemble, inspect, integrate and test spare parts for the electromagnetic aircraft launch system of the U.S. Navy’s CVN-78 aircraft carrier.
The company’s electromagnetic systems business will perform the services ahead of support dates for the ship’s advanced arresting gear and EMALS, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
The Navy will immediately obligate the order’s entire amount from its fiscal 2018 and fiscal 2019 shipbuilding and conversion funds.
Work is scheduled to conclude in January 2023 and will take place in California, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ohio, New Jersey, Minnesota, other locations within the continental U.S. and Germany.
