The U.S. Navy intends to award Northrop Grumman‘s aerospace systems business a contract modification to engineer software and systems of the MQ-8 Fire Scout unmanned aerial vehicle during 2019 calendar year.
The project will cover engineering investigations, root cause analysis and development of potential method to correct any system deficiencies, Naval Air Systems Command said Thursday in a FebBizOpps notice.
Northrop will also update functions, correct software, update cyber tools and provide materials needed for sustainment efforts.
Fire Scout is an autonomous helicopter designed to support intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, target acquisition, laser designation and battle management operations.
