Todd Schroeder, vice president of government digital strategy at Salesforce, has said digital platforms can help agencies transform information technology, business and workflow processes.
He wrote in an article published Monday that a platform will allow government users to collaborate on programs and across departments, as well as manage customer service.
“Digital transformation isn’t about preserving ‘how’ things are currently done. It’s about refocusing on ‘why’ things are done and finding ways to do them better,” Schroeder noted.
He recommended that agencies establish an end-state target for IT modernization and evaluate architectures built to deliver cloud computing services.
Organizations should also create an investment fund to minimize the administrative burden across agency systems and consolidate approach to manage programs or projects with cloud partners, he added.
Schroeder urged security professionals to implement an authorization process for controls across their agencies on an application-by-application basis.
