Amazon Web Services has launched a second region in the U.S. and the 19th worldwide for its cloud computing platform that works to help government customers manage workload and sensitive data.
The AWS GovCloud (US-East) Region offers an architecture for public sector clients to continue business operations in the event of an outage, the company said Monday.
This region is designed to comply with the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Defense Department impact-level 5 and Criminal Justice Information Services requirements.
GovCloud (US-East) adds to the cloud hosting functions of the first region, GovCloud (US-West), which has three availability zones.
John DeSimone, vice president of cybersecurity and special missions at Raytheon’s intelligence, information and services business, said the AWS technology has helped the defense company provide additional technology and services to customers worldwide.
