The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin a $32.1 million contract modification to help the military service implement the operational resiliency phase for the fourth satellite vehicle in the Advanced Extremely High Frequency program.
Lockheed will perform work in Sunnydale, Calif., through Jan. 31, 2021 and will receive $4.1 million at the time of award from USAF’s fiscal 2018 space research, development test and evaluation funds, the Defense Department said Friday.
DoD noted the AEHF contract’s cumulative face value is $9.2 billion.
AEHF will consist of six geosynchronous satellites designed to transmit and secure global communications across military ground, sea and airborne assets.
